The drive

From Podgorica Airport the road runs south across the Zeta plain, skirts the edge of Skadar Lake, and then punches through the mountains in the four-kilometre Sozina toll tunnel. On the far side, the Adriatic appears all at once — the descent to Budva is one of Montenegro’s classic arrival moments. Just under an hour door to door, tolls included in your fixed price.

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign and tracks your flight, so a delay costs you nothing. Since the route bypasses Podgorica city entirely, you’re on the open road within minutes of collecting your luggage.

For departures, plan around the 55-minute drive plus your airline’s check-in window. As a guide, leave Budva about three hours before takeoff in July and August, when the ring road and the coastal traffic are at their heaviest, and about two and a half hours the rest of the year. That is guidance rather than a guarantee — you’ll agree the exact pickup time in your confirmation. We still recommend leaving early: in summer the Sozina tunnel and the coastal road can get very crowded.
