On a departure the useful question is not which option is cheapest, but which one is certainly outside your door at 04:40. Only one of the three is booked, priced and confirmed the night before.
When to leave Budva for your flight
The drive takes about 55 minutes on a clear road — but the morning around it is what decides whether you make the gate. From late June through August, plan to leave Budva three hours before departure: the coastal road out of town and the approach to the Sozina tunnel both back up in high season, and losing twenty minutes there is normal rather than unlucky. Outside the peak months, two and a half hours is comfortable for the same flight. We still recommend leaving early: in summer the Sozina tunnel and the coastal road can get very crowded. Our drivers know the alternatives and will take another route when needed — at the same fixed price.
You do not have to do this arithmetic yourself: a pre-booked taxi turns up with a time already on it. Put the flight time in your booking and we come back with a pickup time that already has the season built into it; if you would rather leave earlier still, say so and we move it. On the morning itself your driver checks the road before setting off — if the Sozina approach is crawling he brings the pickup forward a little or takes the inland road through Cetinje, and you hear it from him on the phone rather than discover it from the back seat.
Where we pick you up in Budva
Wherever you slept. Hotel entrance, apartment building door, villa gate: give the address or the property name when you book, and that is where your taxi waits, with the driver out of it and loading your bags.
Two local details are worth knowing. The Old Town is pedestrian, so no car reaches an address inside the walls — your driver meets you at the nearest access point, for most guests the entrance by the marina, a minute or two from the lanes. And if you are staying in Bečići, Rafailovići or out towards Sveti Stefan, send the exact address with the booking: those pickups are normally covered at the same fixed price, and we confirm it in writing before you pay anything.
The drive to Podgorica Airport
Out of Budva the road runs south-east along the coast past Petrovac and Sutomore, then turns inland into the four-kilometre Sozina tunnel, which cuts under the coastal mountains and saves the long climb over the pass. On the far side it drops past the edge of Skadar Lake and crosses the flat Zeta plain to the airport at Golubovci, about 12 km short of Podgorica itself. Sixty-five kilometres in all, tolls included in your €75 — nothing is added at the barrier.

Podgorica Airport is small and mercifully simple. Your driver pulls up at the departures door, unloads, and you are inside in seconds; there is a single departures hall, so there is no terminal to pick. When check-in opens is the airline’s business rather than the airport’s — desks open on each carrier’s own schedule — so trust your ticket or airline app for that, and tell us if you need to be there for a particular opening time.

How long does the drive from Budva to Podgorica Airport take?

Do you need my flight number if I am flying out?
It is optional, but it helps. With the flight number your driver can see a schedule change or an earlier boarding time before you do, and time the pickup accordingly. Without it we simply work from the pickup time you choose.
What if my departure is delayed or cancelled?
Your driver is local. If your flight is delayed by a few hours, they'll happily recommend where to spend the time nearby; if it's pushed to the next day, they'll suggest good accommodation close to the airport for the night — and a transfer back to the terminal is the same fixed price.
