The drive

After crossing the Grbalj plain and skirting Budva, the road to Petrovac becomes one of the prettiest stretches of the Montenegrin coast — olive groves, glimpses of Sveti Stefan’s famous islet, and the cliff-hugging bends past the Reževići monastery. Around 45 minutes in all, with your driver waiting at arrivals whenever your flight actually lands.

It’s a drive worth staying awake for: the road rides above a string of coves, and the first sight of Petrovac’s red roofs against the pines tells you you’ve chosen the quiet end of the Riviera.
